The upper spots are just a parking lot. Crammed in and chip sealed. The ones between the "lower spots" and "the upper spots" are like the upper spots but a coveted parking lot... so if you have a trailer and can't fit under the 10'7" you're screwed. Oh yea. With (1) 4 ft slide it's tight between the posts... 4 " off of one side and 36" or so off the other. We were too tall and the host told us to take the 11'7" clearance one. We made reservations on line (no mention of clearance) and took another reserved spot. Hope it all works out... If you have a 5th wheel; just forget it. Parking a tow vehicle if you have a slide is not possible. Web site says a trailer and (2) vehicles... again... not possible. The lower spots may be better.
That being said, I love this spot so much, I'm still giving it 5-stars, and we will definitely be back as our primary destination. It's a family place, because the beach attracts lots of families, so I wouldn't recommend coming if you're looking for quiet solitude. Please, DON'T leave your kids unsupervised...Yes, you people with the gazillion kids running around wild...I'm talking to you! And next time, we are going to reserve a spot ahead of time, in the lower circle (even though our spot on the upper circle had a superior view), where there is no brush for snakes to hide out.
Great place for a hot day. Has a beach, a floating dock, volley ball court and picnic tables
Me and my husband go camping several times a year and just happened to come across this place on a whim. Out of all the campgrounds we've camped, this is hands-down my favorite. Amazing views of Lake Roosevelt and the dam. Wonderful beach with incredibly clean sand and clear lake water with sparkley glitter in it (my husband suggested it was flecks of pyrite). Floating dock, which our son loved to jump off. One of the cleanest and most beautiful campsites we've ever stayed.
We enjoyed this friendly campground.
Now for the warning. We stayed for 2 nights, and on EACH night, a rattlesnake was spotted mere yards away from our tent. Campers reported it to rangers, who seemed to shrug it off. Never saw anyone who worked for the park come to investigate (although I saw numerous rangers maintaining the camp through the day, keeping it clean and maintained, which was nice. Also, we never even saw the camp hosts...they had a sign hanging on their RV essentially saying "nobody's home all day"). The snake issue was left up to the campers (one of whom beat a snake with an oar and flung it into the brush). There were tons of kids running around unsupervised, and my husband LITERALLY had to pick up a stranger's 2-year-old because she was 3 feet away from a rattlesnake on her bicycle getting ready to run into it.
RATTLESNAKE WARNING ⚠️
As campgrounds go there are nicer ones, but this one is fine to stop overnight. Not my idea of a destination campsite.
